Product Description
The Case Cheetah Cub is the compact version of the Cheetah pattern — a single-blade lockback with a clip point and swing guard that gives it a silhouette instantly recognizable as Case while keeping the closed length at 3.50". The peach seed jig on dark red bone is one of Case's most traditional handle treatments, a pattern that has been associated with the brand since their Bradford, Pennsylvania shop opened in 1889.
The blade is 1095 carbon steel at 56–58 HRC — the high-carbon workhorse of the Case lineup. 1095 sharpens readily on any medium and takes a keen working edge that outperforms most stainless at this hardness range. The tradeoff is patina — 1095 will develop a natural gray-brown oxide layer with use and exposure, which experienced carbon steel users consider part of the character of the knife. The mirror polish finish shows the steel at its brightest before that patina develops. The clip point profile with swing guard adds a secondary safety element at the pivot that prevents accidental opening in the pocket.
The dark red bone scales are jigged in Case's peach seed pattern — a tightly packed, rounded jig that sits between the coarseness of a corn cob jig and the fine texture of a standard jig, giving a secure grip without sharpness. The nickel silver oval script shield inlay at the center of the handle scale is a Case hallmark. The nail nick opener and lockback mechanism round out a pattern built to the same tolerances Case has held since they started making slip joints and lock blades in Bradford.
