Product Description
The ESEE Gibson Pinch is an ultra-compact neck knife designed by James Gibson, cut from a single slab of 1095 carbon steel with a 1.30" Wharncliffe blade and carried in a magnetically retained molded neck sheath.
Gibson is an east Tennessee bladesmith who earned his American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith rating in 2003 and serves as lead bushcraft instructor for Randall's Adventure & Training. ESEE builds the Pinch from 1095 carbon steel at 55-57 HRC, a tough, straightforward steel that takes a keen edge and is easy to touch up. The Wharncliffe profile keeps a straight edge and a controlled point for opening packages, cutting cord, and other close detail work, while the skeletonized steel handle keeps the whole knife at about 1 oz. Magnets in the molded sheath hold the knife in place, so there are no snaps or straps to fumble with.
- Blade: 1.30" 1095 carbon steel Wharncliffe, flat grind, plain edge, black oxide finish, 0.13" thick, 55-57 HRC. 3.0" overall.
- Handle: Skeletonized black steel, 1.7" long.
- Construction: One-piece fixed blade, with no folding or locking mechanism.
- Carry: 1.00 oz. Includes a black molded polymer neck sheath with magnetic retention.
Ideal for: neck-carry users who want a small backup blade; everyday carriers who need a light utility cutter for packages and cord; and ESEE Camp-Lore fans adding a James Gibson design to their kit.
Care: 1095 is not stainless. It may develop a patina where the finish wears, so keep the blade dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE Gibson Pinch: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE Gibson Pinch (ESEE-PINCH).
What type of blade and sheath does the ESEE Gibson Pinch (ESEE-PINCH) have?+
The Pinch has a 1.30" Wharncliffe blade in 1095 carbon steel at 55-57 HRC, flat ground with a plain edge and a black oxide finish. It carries in a black molded polymer neck sheath that holds the knife in place with magnetic retention.
Who designed the ESEE Gibson Pinch?+
The Pinch was designed by James Gibson, an east Tennessee bladesmith who earned his American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith rating in 2003 and serves as lead bushcraft instructor for Randall's Adventure & Training. He also designed ESEE's Camp-Lore JG3 and JG5 knives and the Gibson Axe.
What's included with the ESEE Gibson Pinch?+
The Pinch ships with the knife and a black molded polymer neck sheath with magnetic retention. Package contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
How big and how heavy is the ESEE Gibson Pinch?+
The Pinch is 3.0" overall with a 1.30" blade and a 1.7" skeletonized steel handle. The blade is 0.13" thick, and the knife weighs 1.00 oz.
How do I care for the 1095 carbon steel blade?+
1095 is a carbon steel, not a stainless steel, so it can rust if left wet, and it may develop a patina where the black oxide finish wears. Neck carry exposes the knife to sweat, so wipe it clean and dry regularly and keep it lightly oiled.
