The Microtech Ultratech Spartan Gen IV Topographic is a double-edged OTF automatic built around one of the most visually distinctive handle treatments in the current Microtech lineup — a topographic pattern deep laser engraved into black 6061-T6 aluminum that reads as sculptural rather than decorative.

The blade is Bohler M390MK, Microtech's in-house processed variant of Böhler M390, hardened to 61–62 HRC. At that hardness, M390MK delivers edge retention that far outlasts most production OTF steels while maintaining corrosion resistance for daily carry. The apocalyptic finish — a controlled chemical darkening that produces a mottled, high-contrast surface — reduces glare and adds a visual counterpoint to the engraved handle without adding coating thickness. The spartan dagger profile runs dual standard plain edges on a flat grind, giving this blade a 3.20" cutting edge on each side that performs as a genuine two-edge working knife, not just an aesthetic choice.

The Gen IV Ultratech platform brings Microtech's patented wide X-button thumb slider — a wider, more positive actuation surface than the previous generation — and a machined titanium pocket clip with ceramic ball retention. At 0.47" thick and 3.61 oz, this carries in a front pocket without bulk. The dual-action OTF mechanism deploys and retracts via the same thumb slider.
