It uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built on nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners. A leaf spring set into the spine of the handle wedges against the blade tang to hold the blade open; to close it, press the exposed spring toward the opposite side. The lock works the same in either hand, and the blade opens one-handed with the Spyderco Round Hole.

CPM S90V is a vanadium-enriched powder metallurgy stainless steel from Crucible that Spyderco notes balances edge retention and corrosion resistance. Its hard vanadium carbides make it slower to sharpen on conventional stones, so diamond or CBN abrasives work best. Touching up the edge before it gets very dull makes maintenance easier.

Spyderco describes this knife as a limited-edition Sprint Run expression of the Bodacious, upgraded with a CPM S90V blade and solid carbon fiber scales. Sprint Runs are produced in limited quantities, so availability is limited.

The handle uses solid carbon fiber scales with a subtle peel-ply texture, machined to house nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners. Carbon fiber is lightweight and strong, and the subtle peel-ply texture adds grip.
