The Edgerati uses Spyderco's Compression Lock. On this knife, a stainless steel lock bar sits in a machined pocket in one of the aluminum scales, and the pierced handle lets you see it. When the knife is open, the lock bar wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.

Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser designed the Edgerati around his interest in high-performance sports cars. The pierced, geometric handle was inspired by the tube frame of the legendary birdcage Maserati. The scales are machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminum and hardcoat anodized for strength, light weight, and a non-slip texture.

Spyderco's SpyderEdge is a fully serrated edge pattern. The serrations grip fibrous materials, so the blade cuts rope, webbing, seatbelt material, and strapping where a plain edge tends to slip. To sharpen it, use the corner of a triangle or tapered rod to touch up each serration from the beveled side, then lightly remove the burr on the flat side. Spyderco also offers factory sharpening service.

CPM S30V is an American particle metallurgy stainless steel developed specifically for knife blades, with a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. On this knife it is hardened to 58-61 HRC. The black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating gives the blade a non-reflective finish and adds a hard surface layer over the steel.

The C266BKALBKS ships as a knife with its reversible pocket clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
