Product Description
The Para 3 C223GS distills the proven features of Spyderco's best-selling Para Military 2 into an even more compact, all-purpose folder. This basic version pairs a tumble-finished CPM S45VN blade with a fully serrated SpyderEdge, black peel-ply-textured G-10, and brightly finished hardware.
CPM S45VN is a powder metallurgy stainless steel from Crucible, developed as an advance on CPM S35VN with added niobium for a fine, tough structure. It balances edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance, so it holds a working edge through daily use and stands up to sweat and humid weather. The fully serrated SpyderEdge grips and cuts rope, webbing, and cordage where a plain edge tends to slide, and the textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp support a choked-up grip for control.
- Blade: 2.93" CPM S45VN clip point with a 2.62" fully serrated SpyderEdge, full-flat grind, tumble finish, 0.145" thick; textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp.
- Handle: Black peel-ply-textured G-10 scales with stainless steel liners nested into machined recesses, in a slim, open-backed build with brightly finished hardware; 4.29" closed, 3.4 oz.
- Deployment + Lock: Spyderco Trademark Round Hole for one-handed opening with either hand; the Compression Lock releases from the spine side, so your fingers stay clear of the closing blade.
- Carry: Four-position hourglass clip for tip-up or tip-down carry on the right or left side, plus an oversized lined lanyard hole; 7.20" overall.
Ideal for: rescue, maritime, and outdoor users who need a compact serrated folder for rope and webbing; EDC carriers who cut cord and strapping regularly; and Para 3 fans who want the SpyderEdge version.
The Spyderco Para 3 in tumble-finished CPM S45VN with a SpyderEdge blade and black G-10 (C223GS) ships same or next business day from Columbia, Louisiana. Knifeworks is an authorized Spyderco dealer.
Spyderco Para 3: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the Spyderco Para 3 (C223GS).
What lock does the Spyderco Para 3 C223GS use?＋
The Para 3 uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into stainless steel liners nested into machined recesses in the G-10 scales. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.
How does the Para 3 compare to the Para Military 2?＋
Spyderco designed the Para 3 to distill the proven features of its best-selling Para Military 2 into an even more compact, all-purpose cutting tool. It keeps the full-flat ground blade, Trademark Round Hole, textured choil and thumb ramp, Compression Lock, and four-position clip, in a 2.93-inch blade and a 4.29-inch closed length.
What is a SpyderEdge serrated blade good for, and how do I sharpen it?＋
Spyderco's SpyderEdge is a fully serrated edge pattern. The serrations grip fibrous materials, so the blade cuts rope, webbing, seatbelt material, and cordage where a plain edge tends to slip. To sharpen it, use the corner of a triangle or tapered rod to touch up each serration from the beveled side, then lightly remove the burr on the flat side. Spyderco also offers factory sharpening service.

The C223GS ships as a knife with its four-position pocket clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath or lanyard included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
