It uses a streamlined version of Spyderco's Compression Lock. A leaf spring set into the spine of the handle wedges against the blade tang to hold the blade open; to close it, press the exposed spring toward the opposite side. The lock works the same in either hand, and the blade opens one-handed with the Spyderco Round Hole.

The 3.47" full-flat-ground PlainEdge blade is thin behind the edge for efficient slicing, and the textured finger choil and thumb ramp give control for detail work. That makes it a general-purpose everyday carry blade for packaging, cordage, food prep, and utility cutting.

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is a thin, hard coating that gives the blade a non-reflective black finish. Spyderco pairs it with black-coated handle hardware for an all-black build. Like any coating, it can show wear with heavy use over time.

Spyderco replaces the G-10 scales with injection-molded FRN and uses a streamlined Compression Lock, which it says trims the knife's weight by more than 25 percent. The FRN scales carry Spyderco's Bi-Directional Texture for a non-slip grip, and the knife weighs 2.8 oz.

The deep-pocket wire clip is reversible for tip-up carry on either side of the body, and the handle has a generously sized lanyard hole.
