The Benchmade Auto Triage 9170SBK is the automatic version of the Triage rescue platform — all the features that make the Triage the standard for first-responder folders, now with push-button automatic deployment for situations where both hands are occupied or one-handed access is critical.

The blade is N680 stainless with a black coating and combo edge. N680 is a Böhler-Uddeholm nitrogen-alloyed steel chosen for its superior saltwater and humidity corrosion resistance over 154CM, CPM-S30V, or 440C — the right steel for a rescue knife that operates in wet, maritime, or field environments where surface oxidation on a plain stainless would compromise a blade in the first season. The combo edge delivers plain-edge slicing for general cuts and serrated bite for seat belts, parachute cord, and synthetic webbing that resists a plain edge. The integrated rescue hook on the blade spine opens away from the body — correct geometry for cutting clothing or straps from a patient without blade-point risk near skin.
