The blade is ground from CPM MagnaCut at 63-64 HRC — Crucible's particle metallurgy stainless steel engineered by Dr. Larrin Thomas to deliver edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance simultaneously, without the tradeoffs that define conventional stainless grades. At 63-64 HRC, this is among the hardest CPM MagnaCut production blades available. The 3.68" tanto profile combines a primary edge optimized for general cutting tasks with a secondary edge and reinforced tip geometry that handles penetration and hard-use tasks without the tip fragility that limits conventional point profiles. The hollow grind with stonewashed finish keeps the blade geometry light and sliceable while the wash finish resists showing field wear.

The glass blasted titanium handle is the differentiating element on the UMN-1014 vs. the natural gray titanium UMN-1002. Glass blasting creates a consistent fine-grained matte texture across the 6AL4V titanium surface — non-reflective in any light condition, tactilely improved over natural titanium, and resistant to showing wear marks in carry. At 0.47" thick and 5.0 oz, the handle is substantial enough for a full, authoritative grip. The modified Reeve Integral Lock delivers increased blade strength and improved pivot and lock tolerances over the standard RIL. Glass-breaker built into the handle butt when closed.
