The Microtech Ultratech has been the gold standard for out-the-front automatics since 1999 — and the Gen IV takes everything that made it iconic and refines it into the smoothest, most reliable version Microtech has ever produced. This particular build pairs an Apocalyptic M390MK dagger blade with a Deep Ocean anodized aluminum handle, giving it a look that's as sharp as what it's carrying. The double-edge dagger profile is symmetrically ground on both sides, built for precision deployment and clean penetration. Both edges are sharpened from the factory.
The Gen IV's biggest upgrade is the Dual-Fuel Drive Train — a completely re-engineered internal firing system that makes deployment noticeably smoother and faster than previous generations. Paired with the Crud Kutter milled switch platform, it actively breaks up pocket lint and debris before it can interfere with the mechanism, which means fewer cleanings and more consistent performance whether you're in the field or the office. The Gen IV does not include Microtech's Zero Blade Play (ZBP) system, which is what keeps the price accessible without cutting corners on materials or engineering. You get the same M390MK blade steel and the same 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum handle — just at a more attainable price point than the ZBP models.
