The Ikuchi uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into full, skeletonized stainless steel liners. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.

Unlike most Spyderco knives, the Ikuchi does not use a Round Hole. When closed, the slim handle fully contains the blade except for a small textured section of the tang, which works as a flipper. A stroke of your index finger or thumb on that tab swings the blade open, and the Compression Lock engages.

The Ikuchi was designed by Paul Alexander, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and lifelong knife enthusiast. Its name, pronounced "ee-koochee," refers to a mythical Japanese sea monster, a fit for the knife's curved, flowing handle.

CPM S30V is an American particle metallurgy stainless steel developed specifically for knife blades, with a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. On the Ikuchi, it is ground very thin for clean, precise slicing, and it sharpens well on diamond, ceramic, or quality synthetic stones.

The C242CFP ships as a knife with its reversible deep-pocket wire clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.

This Ikuchi is made in Taiwan. Spyderco warrants that its genuine products are free from defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product.
