Product Description
The Yojimbo 2 C85GPCBL2 is Michael Janich's refined take on his original Yojimbo, the design Spyderco credits with popularizing the "tactical Wharncliffe." This version pairs a satin CPM SPY27 blade with cobalt blue peel-ply-textured G-10, the signature color of Spyderco's SPY27 family.
CPM SPY27 is Spyderco's proprietary stainless steel, made with Crucible's particle metallurgy process. Spyderco says its alloy formula includes vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, and nitrogen, with cobalt as its signature element, for a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Those qualities support the very keen edge geometry of the Yojimbo 2's hollow-ground Wharncliffe blade, whose straight edge carries cutting power all the way to the tip.
- Blade: 3.2" CPM SPY27 Wharncliffe with a 3.0" PlainEdge, hollow grind, satin finish, 0.145" thick.
- Handle: Cobalt blue peel-ply-textured G-10 scales over nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners, in an open-backed build; 4.49" closed, 4.1 oz.
- Deployment + Lock: Spyderco Trademark Round Hole for one-handed opening with either hand; the Compression Lock releases from the spine side, so your fingers stay clear of the closing blade.
- Carry: Four-position pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down carry on the right or left side; 7.69" overall.
Ideal for: fans of Michael Janich's Wharncliffe designs; Spyderco collectors building a CPM SPY27 lineup; and users who want precise tip control in a full-size folder.
The Spyderco Yojimbo 2 in CPM SPY27 with cobalt blue G-10 (C85GPCBL2) ships same or next business day from Columbia, Louisiana. Knifeworks is an authorized Spyderco dealer.
Spyderco Yojimbo 2 CPM SPY27: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the Spyderco Yojimbo 2 (C85GPCBL2).
What lock does the Spyderco Yojimbo 2 C85GPCBL2 use?+
The Yojimbo 2 uses Spyderco's Compression Lock, built into the skeletonized stainless steel liners nested inside the G-10 scales. When the knife is open, a leaf spring in the liner wedges between the blade tang and the stop pin. You release it from the spine side of the handle with one hand, which keeps your fingers out of the blade's path as it closes.
Who designed the Yojimbo 2?+
Michael Janich designed the Yojimbo 2, which Spyderco credits with popularizing the concept of the "tactical Wharncliffe." Its refined handle follows the natural contours of the hand and encourages a thumb-forward grip, so the blade works as a natural extension of the hand.
What is CPM SPY27 steel?+
CPM SPY27 is Spyderco's proprietary stainless steel, available only on select Spyderco knives and made with Crucible's particle metallurgy process. Spyderco says its alloy formula includes vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, and nitrogen, with cobalt as its signature element, for a balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Cobalt blue handles mark it as part of Spyderco's CPM SPY27 family.
What is the Wharncliffe blade on the Yojimbo 2 good for?+
The Yojimbo 2 has a perfectly straight edge with the point in line with it, so cutting power carries all the way to the tip. That gives precise control for opening packages, breaking down boxes, trimming cord, and detail cuts. The hollow grind keeps the edge thin and keen, though the straight edge has less belly for long sweeping slices.
What comes with the Yojimbo 2 C85GPCBL2?+
The C85GPCBL2 ships as a knife with its four-position pocket clip installed. It is knife only, with no sheath included. Packaging and included items are set by Spyderco and are subject to change.
Where is the Yojimbo 2 C85GPCBL2 made, and what warranty covers it?+
