    G10 Handle Knives: The Grippy, Durable Workhorse Behind the Best Hard-Use Folders

    G10 is the most popular hard-use handle material in knives — and for good reason. Built from layers of fiberglass cloth saturated with epoxy resin and cured under heat and pressure, it's nearly indestructible, immune to moisture and temperature swings, and can be aggressively textured for grip.     Yes — textured G10 is the consensus best wet-grip handle material. The aggressive texture machined into the scales holds securely when your hands are sweaty, bloody, or rain-soaked, and on some patterns it actually grips better wet than dry. Just note that smooth, polished G10 grips far less than textured G10.

    Is G10 durable? Does it crack or chip?＋

    G10 is extremely durable and resists the drops, impacts, and abuse that would chip a natural handle like bone or wood. It's dimensionally stable, won't absorb water, and won't warp with temperature. For practical purposes it's one of the toughest handle materials you can buy.

    What is the difference between G10 and FRN/GFN?＋

    G10 is a layered fiberglass-epoxy composite that's machined into scales; FRN/GFN is injection-molded glass-filled nylon. G10 is stiffer, more premium in hand, and grips better. FRN/GFN is lighter and cheaper to produce. G10 is the choice for premium hard-use; FRN/GFN keeps working knives light and affordable.
